After eight years in Borzoi, I was looking for a second breed.
Loving the
Sighthounds, I became interested in Saluki. Their regal carriage and exotic
history was attractive and the fact that they could "go with horses" made it a
perfect addition for my Borzoi Kennel and Arabian horses.
I had admired the breed for some time when
Anna Meszaros had a lovely bitch which she needed to
place. That bitch was
Ch. El-Shaddai's Esther
Shahar, Fch. And so, in 1994 my
Saluki "life" began. Esther was my foundation bitch for two litters. She
continued her winning ways much to the applause of her many adoring fans up to
this year of 2003 when she passed on, approaching 14 years of age. She set the
standard for me of excellent sound movement down and back, exceptional side
gate, charming personality and unequaled panache to show! We now have double
great granddaughters of Esther, one of which is also a deer grizzle and has been
given the challenge of living up to her grandmother by namesake "Shahar"!
By 2003, it was time for Hounds of Cazimir to
look for "new blood" to add to
our pedigree. We had tightened up on our foundation bitch "Esther" with the
breeding of her daughter, Zahara, from first litter to her son,
Kadar,
from her
second litter. In July of that year, we were blessed with four baby girls to
continue Esther's legacy.
Now, we needed to bring in characteristics that
we
wanted to perpetuate and to heighten with our base elements...sound coming
and going, strong reach and drive on the side gate, lovely type and sound
termperament. This combination was found in Estonia at the
Al Khabara kennel of
Monica and Alex Kullarand. They had a litter whelped in January from their
incredible bitch INT, & BALT & FIN & EST & LV & LTU & UA Champion, Italian CH-
Enci
W-2000 World Dog Show 2000, Italy Multi-SBIS AZIZ MAHTAB who was bred to the
magnificent SBIS, INT & FIN & S & EST & LV Champion, Junior World Winner-98 AZIZ
KABIR. The resulting litter produced five fabulous bitches and two dynamic
dogs. What an honor to have
Al Khabara BoulBoul and
Al Khabara Brahma come to
the USA and join my family! It has been a joy to have "Paul" and "Diva".
They are delightful in everyway ...conformation, movement and personality. Both
Paul and Diva are off to shining show careers garnishing such awards as Best
of Breed, Best of Winners and winning their classes in Specialty competition
all before their first birthday! We have high hopes for a glorious future with
these two imports in our Saluki at Hounds of Cazimir.
I find that Saluki are exquisite creatures of
grace, humor and a bit of
mystery. Their peaceful calm in sharing my nights give me hours of relaxing,
blissful dreams. Their exuberant vivaciousness in sharing my days give me hours
of
unending joy. In my world...the Saluki is truly a "Gift from God" .
